Bootstrap término en inglés utilizado para nombrar a un lazo de cuero o de tela colocado detrás de las botas para calzarse. Tirar fuertemente del "bootstrap" permite calzar la bota al pie. Programa que arranca un sistema operativo como por ejemplo "GRUB, LILO o NTLDR". Es el programa que se ejecuta tras el proceso POST de la bios. También es llamado "Bootstrap Loader" ("Cargador de Inicialización").
